Andrea Mitchell

Andrea Mitchell (born in New York City) is a American television reporter, commentator and anchor for NBC News based at Washington D.C. Mitchell holds a bachelor's degree in English language and culture from University of Pennsylvania. Mitchell started her career as a journalist for KYW Radio and TV, Philadelphia in the year 1967. She was a reporter for the CBS station WDVM-TV (then WTOP) in Washington DC in 1976. After two years, she joined NBC News as a Washington correspondent. 1980 began her coverage of the White House. 1988 became the principal journalist for Congress. Mitchell was appointed Chief White House correspondent in 1992 as well as chief foreign correspondent of NBC News in 1994. Mitchell hosted and was panelists on the TV program Meet the Press. Mitchell was a panelist during 1988's presidential debates, in which George Bush against Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is married to Alan Greenspan former chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. In 2005, Mitchell received the highly coveted Goldsmith Career Award for Excellence in Journalism from the John F. Kennedy School of Government as well as in 2004 the Radio-Television News Directors Association (RTNDA) awarded Mitchell with the Leonard Zeidenberg Award for her contributions to the protection for First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell began covering in the White House for NBC News from 1981 to 1988, during both the terms of President Ronald Reagan. The reporting she did included plenty of important stories like the Iran-contra scandal, the tax reform and the budget, as well as the arms control. Mitchell traveled extensively along with President Reagan for summits along with Mikhail Gorbachev.
