Perry's initial attempts at becoming an international star failed. Perry has been signed by 2 record labels, but she resigned before she released any songs. However, in 2007, Capitol Records put out Perry's EP Ur So Gay which attracted only a little attention because of its humorous title track. I Loved a Girl a straightforward ode to sexual curiosity, backed by an electro-pop beat that was hardedged caused her to make a bigger splash just a few months after. Many critics accused the track of promoting homosexual relationships, while others claimed that the song's raunchy lyrics were designed to attract men with fantasies. I Kissed a Girl was an immediate hit for Perry's album The One of the Boys in 2008, thanks to the combination of titillation combined with polished melodicism. Hot N Cold was a success in the United States, and the album's second song Hot N Cold with its interesting bouncy, sharp tongued beat became popular.
